The important
part of charging a lead based battery is power
quality. Regular alternators have no control of
power quality and in fact create extremely low
quality power (high ripple). Most locally available
dual battery charger systems have zero power quality
control, they are simply switching devices that
connect the alternator to the battery.
Ripple describes the quality of
the current and voltage. A high current ripple heats
the battery and shortens its life. A linear charger
(Alternator, Transformer based charger etc) has a
current ripple of 70 to 400% which is much larger
than the maximum 5% permitted for a modern sealed
battery. High voltage ripple could harm other
equipment that is connected to the battery.
CTEK chargers deliver voltage and current with very
low ripple. The battery has a long service life and
there is no risk of damage to other electronic
devices
connected to the battery.

These chargers are
suitable for use as split charge systems and/or
solar/wind chargers in your
Land Rover or trailer.
The
biggest plus point of these chargers is that they do
not care what voltage they get in or if your
alternator is creating high voltage or not, due to
their design, they use what they can get and produce
the perfect charging signal.
The Ctek D250S will charge
your auxiliary batteries quicker and cooler. It will
ensure your batteries are kept fully charged and
that they last far longer than with regular
alternator based charging.
If you have a battery
located far from the alternator, like in the back of
the vehicle or even in your off-road trailer or
caravan, the D250S charger is what you need. It can
be mounted close to the auxiliary battery with
a long (relatively thin) supply wire. The Charger
will compensate for the voltage drop from the
alternator to the charger and it will give your
auxiliary battery a faster, powerful, effective,
full charge each time.
The unit switches on
automatically when the supply voltage exceeds 12.8
Volts for more than 30 seconds.

For charging an auxiliary
battery (or batteries) up to 500 Ah from two
different sources such as alternator and solar panel
or wind turbine. No solar regulator is needed,
connect the panel directly to the D250SDUAL. |

SMARTPASS

•Features
–Battery
Separator that
eliminates diodes, VSR relays or similar
devices.
–Multi-step
charging of
service batteries up to 80A alternator,
which reduces recharge time.
–Separation
of consumers and service batteries
during charging, which increases expected
life of 12V devices like bulbs, LED’s and
other electronics. The battery could be
charged from the alternator at a voltage
that minimizes recharge time. (Patent
Pending)
–Over-temperature
protection
of service batteries, reduces charge current
at high temperatures (Patent Pending)
–Battery
watch for service
batteries
–Maintenance
charge of starter battery.
Only one output from AC/DC charger
–Solar
panel regulator
with Maximum Power Point Tracking,
synchronized with other current sources
–Simplified
installation of
remote batteries for bow thrust or anchor
winch.
•Benefits
–Maximized
service battery life because the time
when the battery is undercharged is
minimized and deep discharges are avoided.
–Maximized
service battery capacity because
charging sources (alternator, solar, wind)
are synchronized and with maximized
utilization of alternator.
–Minimized
time and cost for charging which
reduces cost for engine idling and shore
power utilization.
–Minimized
environmental impact due to minimized
engine idle time and maximized battery life.
