Coolant
Level Detector

-
This unit measures the electrical capacitance of the
coolant. The system uses a clever technology to prevent
corrosion and buildup on the probes.
-
The unit has two sending wires - one is earth and
the other is the sensing wire and can be connected
in one one of two ways:
-
By using the two supplied stainless steel screws
screwed into a PLASTIC coolant header tank. This
tank should be the main filling tank to the coolant
system, have a pressure cap on and should empty
completely if a coolant hose is removed from the
engine. The screws are fitted horizontally in the
tank 25 mm apart and 25 mm below the normal
operating level of the tank.
-
By using a coolant adapter. A coolant
adapter is a plastic or aluminium pipe (purchased separately)
which is fitted to the top coolant hose (leading to
the radiator). This adapter has a stud fitted to it.
The purple wire is connected to this stud while the
grey wire is connected to the closes earth to the
adapter (Part where the coolant hose fits to the
engine. Water presence in the pipe is sensed by the
unit. This pipe should be fitted close to the engine
block.
