Land Rover announced in 1992 that 70% of all Land Rovers ever built were still in use. Their strong build and durability has contributed to this but more importantly it has been the support by the Landy community for the huge aftermarket that exists for Land Rover parts, spares, accessories and servicing.

Landrover parts are plentiful and available from many different parts suppliers in a range of quality levels. Not all spare parts are made equal and there are at least 2 tiers of quality when it comes to non OEM parts. The top tier of Landrover parts are often equivalent to the OEM parts as these same manufacturers supply many of the OEM spares on behalf of Land Rover but often not at the premium that the genuine Land Rover parts carry. Then there is a second tier where the parts are usually cheaper but also not of the same quality. Even though they look fine and supplied by reputable suppliers they are not necessarily the best that is available. Used Land Rover parts for Defender, Discovery and Range Rover are also available from some specialist Landy used part suppliers. They have recovered crash damaged vehicles that are stripped and the bits and pieces sold separately.

Independant Land Rover service centres and specialised Landy repair workshops are focused on fixing only Land Rovers, these companies are well establish in the main centres of Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. DIY fixing of Land Rovers is also made possible by the many Land Rover books and workshop manuals that are available for most of the Land Rover models manufactured.

The 4x4 accessories market and products has grown exponentially in the last 10 years in South Africa. There are many of the leading 4x4 accessories suppliers from South Africa who supply high quality off road and safari equipment around the world. Many of these suppliers and manufacturers have focused Land Rover accesories product ranges and fitment centres too.
